Over 320 days of sun every year and an average annual temperature of 20º C make Granada's Costa Tropical a real paradise in southern Spain. Granada's coastline has the most pleasant climate in Andalusia. Sierra Nevada, National Park and Biosphere Reserve. This mountain range gets its name from the snow that can be found on its highest peaks almost year round. In the Middle Ages, the Moors called them the "Mountains of the Sun", and they are not only home to one of the most magnificent flora in Spain and even all of Europe, but they also contain a rich cultural and historical heritage that has developed over the centuries. Sierra Nevada is also of great interest because it has the only ski-resort in Andalusia, at just 40 km from Granada and the golf course. Its peaks are over 3000 meters high and it makes an ideal place for mountain, ski and snow activities, and also for active tourism in general, as it is also possible to take part in activities such as hiking, cycle tourism, speleology, horseback riding, canyon descent, rock-climbing, rafting,…. It is a perfect enclave for enjoying all types of outdoor activities during your holiday in Spain.

Granada is a city for walking, for strolling down its streets, breathing in its aroma and absorbing the charm of its unique neighbourhoods, its narrow, winding streets, its impressive monuments, its history. It is known far and wide for its beauty, even to those who have never been here; it is a city people love even before visiting it. And once you have seen it, you will never forget it. Granada is the art of seduction in its purest form. The Alhambra was once the residence of the Nazarí Kings and, complemented by the no-less-beautiful backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, it is one of the most awe-inspiring monuments in Andalusia, in Spain and in the entire world. It stands high on a luxuriant green hill, called Sabika in Moorish times, among numerous springs and centuries-old forests. But Granada is more than the Alhambra, because it also has exhuberant gardens, fountains, palaces, monuments and countless other points of interest in its magical Moorish and Gypsy quarters, the Albaicin and Sacromonte, respectively.

At just 45 km from the city of Granada, the Alpujarra region is known for the beauty and tranquility of its small towns, typical white Andalusian villages, for its mountain scenery, its flower-laden balconies, the people that live there and the area's special atmosphere, all an integral part of these spectacular surroundings. Nestled deep in the south side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this region has been declared Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and is also a Nature Reserve and National Park, thanks to the plant life endemic to the region and the particular ecosystem found here. It is also known for its history, because this was the final refuge of the Moors in Andalusia. This is where Boabdil, the last Moorish king, lived for a few months after handing the city of Granada over to the Christian armies. And it is here where the Muslims who refused to convert to Christianity found refuge, for almost a century, when they were forced to leave Granada. Many vestiges of the old Arab culture remain and are especially visible in popular architecture and in the unique network of channels built for irrigation purposes, a system still used by local farmers today. Of the many villages that make up this region, the following are of special interest: the villages located on the Barranco de Poqueira, which are: Capileira, Pampaneira and Bubión; La Tahá district, which includes Pitres, Ferreirola and Mecina Fondales; Trévelez, Lanjarón, Alpujarra de la Sierra (comprised of Mecina Bombarón, Yegen, Golco and Montenegro) Busquístar, Orgiva, Pórtugos, among others.

A visit to Andalusia and especially to Granada would not be complete without a visit to some of its countless bars and taverns, where you can experience the local "tapeo" tradition, in which small servings of culinary specialities are served, at no extra charge, with each drink ordered, usually a small glass of beer or wine.
