:: Secrets we want to share

We all have special places that we like to show to friends and family who live elsewhere when they come to visit us. And while traveling, the limited time available to us or the wide range of tourism options often result in some of the places we intended to visit getting left behind. On other occasions we might, without even realising it, walk right past some charming spots that are off the usual tourist track and which would undoubtedly have been a highlight among the memories of our visit to the city.
In this section we try to offer a selection of places of all different types, ranging from outstanding vantages points from which to contemplate monuments or scenery, to quaint corners not included on the usual tourist track, and also places to eat or have some tapas, mingling with Granada's native population. Tips and suggestions made by people who live in Granada and who want to share their best-kept secrets about this marvellous city with the friends of Golf-Comfort.
Take advantage of their words of wisdom and devote a few hours of your time in the city to getting to know some of these places, worth remembering and recommending to your friends and family who visit the city in the future.

Below you will find some suggestions regarding places to go and things to do, which, according to the city's residents, should not be missed during a visit to Granada:

Placeta Carvajales. The Albaicín and the Alhambra from a different perspective

Suggestions 2

Ángel Pertíñez Muros
Businessman and spokesman for the opposition party Izquierda Unida in the Otura City Council

If you come to the city of Granada, visiting the Alhambra is a must, of course. Just opposite the Alhambra is the neighbourhood called the Albaicín, with its maze of narrow winding streets that stay cool even in the heat of summer. At the top of the hill is the viewpoint called Mirador de San Nicolás, known far and wide as a place from which to enjoy some of the most fabulous sunsets in the world, with the colours of the sky reflected on the Alhambra, making for one of the most magical ways to contemplate the Moorish castle.
But you have heard all this before....what I really want to recommend is a spot not as well-known but certainly no less charming, Placeta Carvajales. This is a small square with an amazing view of the Alhambra. Here you will feel like you have become a part of the Albaicín, mixing with its residents. And isn't that what we are looking for when we travel to a new place: to change our place of residence for a few days and really get to know our fellow inhabitants? Placeta Carvajales is just that, the doors of the residents' homes open towards the shady benches dotting the square, which thus becomes an extension of the homes' living space. Here visitors blend in with residents of the Albaicín, the only difference being the language spoken or the clothes worn.
To reach the square we must first visit the streets called Calderería Nueva and Calderería Vieja, and their teahouses. Then we come to Cuesta de San Gregorio, the street that winds uphill past the church. At the little square by the church we can drink at the fountain: the water will both quench our thirst and transport us to times gone by. We follow Cuesta de San Gregorio up to Plaza Cruz Verde. At this point we take a sharp right onto the street that leads us through Plaza Capellanes and soon thereafter to the absolutely delicious spot I described above.
But don't pay too much attention to me, because the best thing to do is get lost in Granada, in the Albaicín, and discover it for yourself, knowing that you will no doubt discover other places that will work their magic on you. For me, Plaza Carvajales is heaven!! Enjoy Granada!!
